I'm sitting in a coffee shop surrounded by Blue Devils right now... This is pretty crazy. Durham, NC is amazingly beautiful. The campus is pretty much carved into the middle of a forest, and everything is bright green. I kinda don't want to leave.
My name is Jared Beiswenger, and I'm not really on a world tour... yet. But I recently took a leave of absence from my business consulting job in D.C. to volunteer with Scripture Union Peru (Unión Bíblica).
Scripture Union is an organization that was originally started to encourage and help people read the Bible. SU Peru has several offshoots of that ministry, including teaching Christian values in schools, teaching deaf children, helping abandoned street boys, and finally a medical program, based in the Amazon.
I assisted the financial director in the business office and traveled to the various boys' homes, doing construction and meeting the boys.
Thanks to all my supporters, without whom I could not have traveled to Peru. If you're interested in donating time, money, or anything else to Scripture Union, please contact me at jmb496@gmail.com.
Thanks for reading my blog and be sure to leave comments if you enjoy what you read!
